I'm not sure what exactly drives the zealots, not having ever been one myself, as I always have tried to see both sides of any particular argument. Presumably they get fixated on the single aspect of harm to children and all the appropriate defence mechanisms kick into play. I try not to debate with such people as it is usually pointless.
