I'm not going to criticise him, I think I can relate to his experiences, and it is a matter of luck as to whether you get prosecuted or not in many of these countries. Corruption and bribery are rife, and so is child prostitution. The children are still the same as anywhere and will adapt to their environments as they can, even when it is mostly harmful to them.
