Hi Student,

First, let me compliment you on writing some very intelligent posts. You are obviously well read and learned. In short, you are what you say you are; a student. I consider myself one as well.

If I am not mistaken, you seem to be suggesting that pedophilia (or, as I prefer to call it, pedosexuality) is indeed an orientation and not a paraphilia. I believe this is not only true, but that legitimate discussion and debate can take place as to cause and effect. But, if this is the case for pedosexuality, then it must also be true for the other major orientations; e.g. teliophilic heterosexuality and all manner of homosexuality, including Boy Love.

So, the question becomes, What causes a person to favor one sexual orientation over another? Or, in some cases, what causes a person to combine certain elements of one (liking to receive anal sex for example, yet being otherwise exclusively attracted to women?), with certain elements of other attraction bases?

In the case of pedosexuals, there are some who are strictly Girl Lovers, others who prefer prepubescent boys, and still others who like both genders, as long as they have not yet reached pubescence. In short, there are all flavors of pedosexuals, with countless combinations of desires, including varying degrees, and an infinite number, of "erotic- triggers". The only constant, and thus the only real criteria for pedosexuality, is that one has a sexual attraction to children.

Educators have debated almost ad infinitum, as to the impact of nature (genetic factors) as opposed to nurture in determining causation for behavior patterns in human beings. For the most part, in this day and age, it is generally agreed that both nature and nurture play a role in human behavior. Specifically however, a person's sexual behavior, including his basic attractions and desires, are most likely also the result of some combination of environmental factors, interacting with his genetic pre-dispositions. Thus, sexual orientation is likely the result of both the cards you are dealt at birth (genetic factors), AND whether or not you have been successful playing your hand (environmental factors). In any case, it seems reasonable to me that while we can monitor and control our behaviors, our orientation has been determined by forces beyond our control; e.g. inborn personality traits, coupled with our experiences in life.

There is an almost infinite combination of sexual activities to which we may be drawn. The process of complexification is at work within the erotic realm, just as it is in other areas of life. The only way we can be happy and contented, is to play our cards wisely, in conjuction with who we REALLY are. That is to say, "Know when to hold 'em, and know when to fold 'em." But, certainly, never deny the reality of the hand you hold. We must always be ourselves, even when we are wearing a mask.

In this day and age, it is unwise to engage a child in sexual activities of any sort, for any reason. But, that does not mean that we should not engage children at all. There is much to be gained, for both the child and the Child Lover, by social and personal interaction. Pedosexuality, even without manifesting the "-sexuality" aspect", is still potentially a positive force, and if the cards are played wisely, will benefit both the loved and the lover equally. We must be careful however, lest the Joker rear its ugly head when you least expect it.
