I have some good, honest friends that are Christians but whether their devotion to God and others comes from their own good nature or from their beliefs is a debatable point. That said, I cannot argue with what you are saying in criticism of religion. Here in the UK and Ireland, child sexual, physical and verbal abuse commited by priests and nuns in the recent past and possibly still today is quite a significant problem, but although reported by the media, it seems to be almost accepted by people as the inevitable bad side of religion. Yes, it does seem to be a unique brand of madness.
