The trouble is, before his change of position and his violation of our trust with respect to the money, a lot of people on here trusted him every bit as much as you suggest. In the absence of financial barriers, I would have met him in person gladly, and I'd guess many others here trusted him that much -- before he destroyed that trust. What now? Go through life never trusting anyone that way again, no matter how well you think you know them? If we do that, no one would ever send money to Infinity either. That is part of the considerable damage Todd has done to this community with his actions, to destroy our willingness to trust in each other, too.

However, I still think it is unwarranted to call it "theft" as if it has been proven that he took the money for his own personal benefit, when it has not. I know I used that word myself at first, but I'm not using it without proof now. (You can get a computer monitor very very cheaply, even free, if you don't mind it being a bit crappy, I know from experience.) The proof that he misused the funds against the will of the donors, regardless where the money went, is quite enough to charge him with, and is proven, so let's stick with that.
