Illegal warrant = illegal search?

As I understand it, it is illegal to accept the testimony of a mentally unstable person in a court of law. It follows that it should be illegal to act on any statement made by a mentally unstable person without corroborating evidence.

If my reasoning is correct, that makes the search warrant and consequently the search both illegal. Your friend should get legal advice to check that. He may be able to sue the cops for the illegal search, libel/defamation, compensation for lost/damaged property plus punitive damages for mental pain and suffering.
