What I meant in the above post was that I have *no more* right to coerce a child than I do an adult. The use of intervening force should only be used (if at all) to prevent imminent harm, and it should be a last result.
For instance, if I see a child beating up another child, I will restrain that child, the same way I would if I saw an adult attacking another adult.
That's my litmus test -- to treat children as people. The only differences that should be considered are relevant ones, not sex, race, or age.
