Let's keep in mind that 'their' perception of 'us' has been synonymous with 'rapist/child molester'. Since they have not been willing to distinguish a differnce between abuse/rape and a consentual relationship (seeing as how they haven't fathomed the possibility of the latter), they, too, have grown accustomed to not trusting "their kind." In the perspective that 'we' are one and the same with the sick element... well, that could be justified... This would be a good opportunity to show our principles and ideals, not only to find common ground, but to acheive a richer, more open society where children can explore the spectrum of life and diversity in a safe and supportive environment... one not based on fear, distrust and iron-fisted censorship.
OTOH, I'm with you in your pessimism. One step at a time and proceed with caution! These are shark infested waters... for all of us, I think. Peace, Love and END ABUSE, SUPPORT LOVE... in all it's colors of the rainbow!!! ^Silver Wolfe~~ |
