Sorry to jump in here but I¡¯d like to make a few comments on this whole thing. I don¡¯t know any of you personally so hopefully you will understand that this is not meant as criticism targeted at individuals.
Having said that I am a paedophile and an activist so I am a fervent believer in the cause of rational debate and the open statement of our position; leading, if appropriate, to the revision or abolition of inapt legislation regarding child / adult sexual relations.

There is nothing gracious in the offer from CAT. In a free and balanced society the opportunity to debate any subject should be freely available to all. There is no give and take relationship involved so we have nothing to be grateful for. That does not mean there should be no debate but it should be as equals not as master and servant.

As things stand today there is little common ground between antis and paedophiles other than we are human beings. Both groups state that they have no desire to hurt children. This is only partly true because the argument excludes the psychological damage we would argue antis cause in repressing a child¡¯s natural sexual inquisitiveness; on the other hand most antis would say that we are dangerous individuals who should be locked up period. These views are poles apart and the ¡°common ground¡± would fit on the back of a postage stamp.

A white knight riding into the fray hoping to suddenly bring both camps together will by definition be disruptive whatever their motivation. Change can only come about slowly. Seeking personal glorification in the pursuit of either the anti or pro paedo cause does neither group any service.

The attitude of uncertainty that permeates this discussion is disconcerting. Either you are a paedo or you aren¡¯t. It¡¯s as simple as that. Once you are committed there is no going back or changing sides. Yes, everybody has personal doubts and angst but having said that these must be put to one side; only as a cohesive and united group can the paedophile cause move forward.

This is a straightforward political battle in which right now we are the underdog. Maybe it will take 100 years to change that but so what. Sexual freedom is a legacy we should bequeath to our unborn generations of children and it is worth fighting for whatever it takes. Remember; the cause of the Negro, the Homosexual and the Jew all once looked hopeless.
