An inaccuracy:
A recent police operation, Operation Ore, conducted in 2002, picked up 7000 men in Britain who had used one particular American website called Candyman, where viewers paid by credit card to download images of little girls (aged from 9 upwards) advertised as looking pretty or pretty and sexy. The vast majority of the 7000 only viewed adult porn. Though a lot of the paper appears sympathetic, the author seems to be unsure what to do with people who just desire children. She recommends Stop it Now!, a particularly insidious organisation: Stop it Now! UK & Ireland: Confidentiality Statement The Helpline and e-mail help offer a confidential service to adults seeking advice or information who do not choose to identify themselves or other parties. However, when information is disclosed that identifies a child at risk, or an adult who is alleged to have committed an offence against a child, this will be reported in accordance with child protection procedures. Please note: This includes a personal disclosure that an offence has been committed such as the possession or distribution of indecent images of children on a computer. I haven't been able to discover her academic standing, so it's hard to see what impact such a paper is likely to have. |
