In other words, that leaves a conviction for a victimless crime, an admission that he was immature when he was a teenager (a situation which he corrected on his own), and a naive belief that the United States subscribes to the rule of law and that the U.S. media holds freedom of speech to be dear - with the chief sin being those naive beliefs.
I admit that Kevin's background is not as pure as it could be, but it is clear from events that what excited his local government was not his background, but his willingness to exercise freedom of speech. If we don't take that warning to heart, if we can't read that writing on the wall, then we are in no position to criticize him for being naive.
