I saw your question on my earlier post regarding Kurt Freund. I am working on a paper on the topic in collaboration with another person, and will post it when finished. Freund's contribution was primarily a conviction that resonance imaging would allow elucidation of the physiognomic structure; current research centers on the portion of the visual cortex responsible for image recognition.
