I have thought about the same questions and the answer I've come up with is religion. Most of the world is morally directed by religion. Religion plays on everyone's fears and brain-washes the young. Even here on this open-minded board, the only time I ever had a post censored was because I made fun of one of the most evil men on the planet, the Pope, who had all but condoned the rape of children.

Religion conditions us to believe things are wrong when they are not and right when they are wrong. Examples: gay marriage, pedophilia and drugs... all are harmless and no one's business except those consentually involved. Yet laws are made to punish these victimless crimes because of the morals taught by religion and made into law by the brainwashed.

Gay marriage: Religion supports deliberately hurting two people who love each other and want to declare their love and be legally together and to raise a family.

Pedophilia: Religious morals made into law victimizes innocent children by forbidding them to act the way God intended and then victimizes adults who love children and want to help children learn healthy enjoyable sex. Religion has made sex dirty and bad and something to be ashamed of.

Drugs: My body my choice. Okay its a stretch to blame religion for our drug laws, but it is the entire mentality that someone else should control your behavior and what you do with your body. If I want to kill myself with cocaine or slit my own throat or relax with a joint it is no one's business but my own. To persecute someone for taking drugs should be a crime and I hope to live to see the day that those who persecute drug users put in jail for all the families they've destroyed.

Religion is the root of all that is evil as it is religion that dictates morals which is kind of like asking a fat person for diet advice.
