Control is the key factor.
Society wants to control sexuality and channel it into predictable forms. Sexuality in children makes them 'out of control' and not predictable. To argue that children are just human beings, with a general sexual need, is pointless. A pedophile is also seen as a person 'out of control', with a sexuality that is 'uncontrollable'. This explains in a very simple way why we are prosecuted. Trying to argue that a sexual attraction to a young person makes you neither more nor less controllable, neither more nor less predictable, is pointless. A society that needs control is a society that fears the world. The attitude to pedophilia, among other things, is a gauge on this fear. -Tallguy ![]() |
