CRUSHED PORN

Simon Meadows

The destruction of thousands of images which could have destroyed young lives simply by being created. Videos and DVDs containing child pornography were today disposed of in a shredding machine at the Avon and Somerset Police headquarters.

Det. Insp. Mark Wickham: " What we have behind us here are well in excess of a quarter of a million child abuse images which are contained on CDs and other external media type material. Also a number of computers and other related equipment."

The material was seized from one address - the home of a forty one year old Somerset man now serving six months in prison. He was caught as part of the force's Operation Ricochet. A hundred other people have been arrested in the inquiry which is ongoing. Child protection charities today welcomed the Avon and Somerset constabulary's stand against pornography involving children. The NSPCC says youngsters suffer knowing a record of their abuse exists which could be re-circulated. Though Barnardo's is concerned about destroying images that might help trace children still being abused.
The force says it would be impossible to find every child featured on these tapes, but it hopes the destruction of this material will be a warning to all those plying this evil trade.

Child porn dentist free to practise

A former Queensland Health dentist who was sentenced for having child abuse computer games has been allowed to continue treating patients.

Leslie Herbert Holm, 35, pleaded guilty to five charges in the District Court in Brisbane.

The court was told Holm kept his personal computer in a locked and alarmed room at his Brisbane home, which he shared with his wife and son.

He came under police suspicion after he was seen watching girls doing gymnastics.

His home was searched and thousands of pornography images were found, including images of girls as young as ten.

The dentist, now unemployed, has been sentenced to three years' probation.

Under his working conditions, Holm is not allowed to practice dentistry on children under 16 except in an emergency and he must be chaperoned.

He is also not allowed to use the family camera.

Several aspects of this article strike me as odd. Firstly, it says that he was sentenced for having child abuse video games. I have never heard of such a thing. Do they make them? Who would they market them to? Strange.

Secondly, he came under suspicion after he was seen watching girls doing gymnastics. Is that a crime? Can one come under suspicion for that? If so, you could get search warrants for entire gymnasiums. Shit. You could get a global search warrant after the Olympics airs on television. Bizarre.

Thirdly, he is not allowed to use the camera. He has to be the first man ever to be outlawed from using a camera.

Bizarre!!!!!
