...what happened when women were liberated from the dominance that men held over them for ages, when they were barely allowed to do anything without consulting their father prior to marriage, and their husbands after marriage? How did black people handle emancipation once the Civil War ran its course, when prior to that their lives were strictly monitored and supervized by their masters and the latter's family for many generations? That would answer much of the questions you ask about youth liberation. Would there be "bumps and bruises" along the way? I think so...but youths would learn to handle it in a changed and democratic environment, much as women and blacks likewise did so. Freedom is always a better choice than control, no matter how "good" we think those under control have/had it.
