Hi Smeagol
Thank you for taking the time to respond. Your point is well taken regarding sex ed as it currently exists. In addition to teaching young people how to avoid unwanted prenancies, the transmission of veneral disease etc. Young children could be taught about the inherent capacity of their bodies to experience physical pleasure. A sort of "body awareness" class. Also rather than being controlled by their pleasurable sensations as we often find in adolecence, they could learn to gain control over them and experience them to the fullest but under their own personal Will. I believe the study of Philosophy could help children improve their decision making abilities as well as helping them establish their own personal values with an eye to answering for themselves the age old questions; "Who am I?" "What does it mean to live a GOOD life?" "Does Life have purpose?" "Where does sexual intimacy fit in to all of this?" etc. Education that doesn't try and address these issues is hardly any education at all IMHO. I tried to read Krishnamurti years ago but found his teachings a little over my head at the time. His name has frequently been coming up here on the board as of late so perhaps i will give him another look. So long for now AE |
