Well tell them, that nothing illegal (in any way) is going on. Someone said in another post (i think, or was it somewhere else), that things that are hidden are often given the appearance of being sinister, as they are secret. If they ask, confront them with the truth,

although having said that, I probably couldn't (it would have to depend on who they are).
