"My set-up?" I chose that as the slowest possible example, and I do not know if you are deliberately misunderstanding but I will give you the benefit of the doubt.
The purpose of Picture View is to AVOID downloading; why is that concept so difficult to grasp? It is especially useful for people who are subscribers of a news service that limits their downloads; Pictureview not only has no limits but lets you avoid downloading pics that you don't want. To repeat, it shows you 15 thumbnails and then you choose the ones you want to download, if any. 15 is exactly fifteen times as much as one. With picture view you see 15 times as many pictures regardless of your connection, as you do without it. Nobody claimed that a 28-bit modem was faster than a 1mb cable modem (I will in a moment, though). A 28-bit modem running picture view or a 1mb cable modem runing pictureview is 15 times as fast as the same rig without pictureview when it comes to examining pictures. I can't make it any plainer than that. By the way, a 28-bit modem running pictureview allows the user to examine 5,000 pictures and decide if he likes them or not in 83+ minutes, whereas your rig can examine 5,000 pictures overnight. To me, that means that, in the realm of examining pics and deciding which ones you want to d/l and which ones you do not, even a 28-bit modem is faster, at that, with pictureview, than your 1mb cable modem is without it. You must try it to understand, but to simplify it to the max, Picture View is designed to allow members (or non-members; the demo area costs nothing) to see 15 times as many pictures at a shot as they would be able to see otherwise. It works, and it works well, and since it costs nothing to try why don't you see for yourself? |
