That pretty much covers it. "Grooming" is just a buzz word to make being nice sound bad.
Immanuel Kant believed that actions could only be moral if they were done out of a sense of duty rather than because the moral agent enjoyed it, but besides promoting a joyless world as the only possible moral one his ideas miss a great deal of what it means to be human: natural selection has generally preserved those whose natural tendencies and preferences are for moral actions - which means that most people will act in good ways most of the time because they want to - and this is a good thing, because moral action will be far more common among those who find moral action enjoyable than among those who do not. |
