To be honest I don't think most parents hate pedophiles, I think most parents are indifferent or at least tired of reading/hearing yet another story about the massive pedophile threat.

I think most parents have more important things to worry about like paying the mortgage, paying for schools, stopping their kids being bullied or getting into trouble.

That being said I'm sure some do have a deep fear of pedophiles for the reasons you state.
