That's the trouble with television and news papers, they're all about viewing figures so they like to pretend to be showing edgy, challenging content but it's just populist nonsense dressed up.

If it looks like it might upset more than a hand full of viewers it'll get canned or reworked. The only place to see such material is on the Internet in blogs and forums or in independent shows which then struggle to get shown anywhere.

You know what we should create, an independent online TV channel that invites people to create content for on anything. No political correctness, perhaps the only rule being that content should not encourage hatred or violence to stop extremists hijacking it to publish religious or political propaganda. But people could create short films, run debates or even regular series slots on anything and everything from sexuality to state surveillance. Then we could have debates about pedophilia that people could see, even have shows where experts can talk more freely about the subject or people talk about their own childhood experiences and the positive aspects or other cultures and history.

If I wasn't so busy with other projects I'd probably look into it.
