I draw a distinction between appeals for a particular prisoner and the broader appeal to do away with the death penalty entirely. It's the latter where I am not aware of any organized effort by the prisoners themselves. You well know (because you have gone on record as opposing its current form) that pedo defendants, convicts or ex-cons are not allowed to question the laws, because that is taken as proof against them and will lead to harsher penalties or returning to custody. So we have to do it for them in a way that death row inmates do not need to. It's an argument that saying those things will have an effect in the world that we don't want. Hmm Those of you who chit-chat in a theater raise alarm bells that undermine -- obliterate -- that goodwill [ ] If there is one area where recusal is politically important, it is here. Is it clearer now? |
