Nabokov is the wrong personage to reference in regard to child liberation.
He writes about personal experience, something that is only tangentially connected with social rights and wrongs. And the last thing he could ever be is a moraliser- well, maybe unknowingly. Is this possible? I think yes. Nabokov was not immune from the effects of the social castigation of paedophilia. Maybe when he wrote Lolita it was a more mature work. |
