If a therapist has strong feelings against MAPs, they're more likely to crinkle up a B4U-ACT questionnaire and throw it in the trash than take the time to write inaccurate answers.

I don't undertand. That's also what a therapist who has strong feelings against MAPs would do with a letter from a random MAP seeking services, and it's probably how the ones who didn't respond reacted.

MAAs are seen as being sneaky and deceitful, and it is best not to fuel that stereotype.

We're seen as being sneaky and deceitful to children, parents, people like that. I wasn't leading these therapists on for any extended period of time. I got their answers then wrote back thanking them for their time. None of the other mental health professionals I discussed this project with commented negatively on it. They seemed to agree that we have a right to know how therapists would react to these questions.

Again, we wanted to determine what their perspectives already were without being introduced to any new ideas.

It is more likely that a therapist would be dishonest with an individual than an organization. For example, if a therapist needs new patients, (s)he will answer in such a way as to attract new patients.

I'm sorry, I just don't see it that way. I don't think a therapist would agree to see a patient just to attract new clients if they thought it was unethical. Unless they are a really deceitful therapist that wants to lure MAPs to their office and out them.

I strongly disagree with you, Matthew.

We'll have to agree to disagree. I was actually really surprised jeep had the perspective he did.

I hope you understand that I'm not being angry or confrontational. Just the way I see matters.

It certainly wouldn't be completely useless to do it the way you describe, but I still think the way I went about it made more sense.
