I don't deny the validity of your reasons for staying in the toybox, Joey. I fully understand what it would be like to be saddled with two minority anchors over your neck, even if one of the two minority groups in question has made much progress since the 1960s.

That being acknowledged, as I noted elsewhere, I do not agree that absolutely none of us have a reason for coming out. I think the fact that almost all of us hid in the closet--despite the fact that the gays did this too in the past en masse--has stifled our progress and given the media carte blanche to depict us any way they wished without overt evidence to the contrary being provided. Accordingly, with the bit of progress made over the previous decade up to now, the middle point of the second decade of the 21st century, I think now is the time for those of us who, upon careful consideration, can afford to come out, should come out. This is why I decided to be "out" as a hebephile in RL. Though not all of us need to or should come out for the reasons you and Dante mentioned, I think enough of us have to come out to put a human face on our community, otherwise progress for us will continue to move far slower than it otherwise would. This is why, speaking for myself only, I do not regret being "out," despite the risks and drawbacks even for someone in my circumstances.
