Ping: qtns2di4, re: Hurted

The reason I pinged you for this question in particular is because you have spent enough time with girls that I think it's particularly likely that you have noticed the term I'm about to bring up. It happens to be a malapropism often used by young girls--both LGs and young AGs, it seems--that I find very cute, and which is totally in synch with their natural propensity for re-shaping language in cute and aesthetically charming ways. I haven't heard boys use it, nor any adult, so even though I'm not saying that the latter two groups never use it, the malapropism in question seems to be very strongly favored by young girls over and above any other group of people.

I've noticed that many girls, instead of saying the word "hurt," instead say this: "hurted." I've noticed it so often from them that now I'm saying it a lot, both because I think it's cute and as a homage to the girls and one of the traits I love most about them.

I don't know for certain, but I'm very confident that you have heard girls use that particular variation of the word "hurt" in the past, e.g., "I heard that bee sting really hurted," on more than one occasion :-)
