Jane's childhood friend is played by a young Elizabeth Taylor ( so early as to go uncredited. ) [O]f little Elizabeth Taylor, Orson [Welles] has a somewhat different memory. Unlike some other figures in Hollywood, Orson has never foundhimself attracted to very young girls. "That's something I'm very puritanical about," he says. "I just believe that it's off limits." Only once, he recalls, did he faintly comprehend the impulse, and this was in the presence of little Elizabeth Taylor. "When I read Lolita," says Orson, "I understood what he meant, because of Elizabeth Taylor as a child. I just never saw anything like her. She was unbelievable."
