And the assumption that peers are somehow OK partners by virtue of being peers just flies in the face of all the real risks and abuses.

The statistic that 1 in 3 girls is sexually abused by the time they are 18 (and 1 in 6 boys) not just includes things which may be distasteful or creepy, such as exposure or sex proposals through chat (and of course, consensual sexual activities,) but also includes peers. Indeed, when you dig it, it turns out 80% of the "perpetrators" are peers. HmmmÂ…

Discerning intentions is not a strong human skill at any age. But with all the social pressures on late adolescents and adults to conform, and with all the years of training to "defer to authorities" younger kids often are better BS detectors than the "bright shiny objects" fictions that you offer in their places.

At least I know one teen who deferred to her younger sister as a better judge of human character; and not because the older was particularly unskilled.

Or we could give them all forensic psychology courses.

Problem there is, you will end up with whole generations of trained actors whose every interaction will be held suspect by every other.

It criminalizes sexual activity on the basis of ages without ANY regard to whether rape occurred. And the statutes cannot be invoked in ACTUAL cases of rape where there was no AOC violation.

And for all that others recall what happens when all sex is rape, ie, Saudi Arabia, in how the victim is punished too; suddenly there is a disconnect once the victim is under Magic Age. Even if overall the same thing happens.
