e-petitions to protect all people

What do people think about raising an e-petition going on a subject not directly related to something overly controversial such as changing the age of consent but rather making legal changes to protect the rights of all citizens including citizens attracted to minors.

I'm thinking along the lines of a petition to enshrine the rights of people to get equal protection and rights in society regardless of their faith or sexuality. A clear definition should be drawn between acts of breaking the law and expressing your faith and sexuality. If acting within the law then all citizens should be equally protected and have the same rights in society including the rights to privacy and employment. This includes people of any faith and people of any sexuality including people attracted to members of the opposite sex, same sex or attraction to specific groups such as attraction to people much older or younger than themselves or people of different colour and faith.

Basically create a framework in law that protects pedophiles and anyone else from being treated differently just because of their attraction. Breaking the law is still breaking the law but attraction should not get people treated differently. From there discussion could move on to other things.

What do people think? I know there were attempts in the 60's to change the law with limited success but today with the protection of Europe and human rights it might be more successful
