In my opinion, LessWrong starts with some pretty sound ideas about clear thinking in its basic sequences, but then for some reason reductionism makes a heavy appearance (if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like nails), and cryonics and the AI singularity come in, with no justification I can think of except that the key people involved think they're interesting, and from there on out it's pretty much wacky.
The basilisk worries me not the slightest bit. |
