"It's hard for me to fathom that there are people here who actually believe that this was a consensual relationship, given the fact that incest almost never is."

Wut?

Jape may be saying that.

All Luftetari asked was that an allegation be treated as an allegation.

But the world is filled with folks who would never rush to judgement about a charge of theft, but will do so about rape.

This is the very reason why rape charges, particularly child rape charges are fabricated. The person exonerated from a theft charge has a very real chance of having their reputation and life restored. For the person being accused of "Pedophilia" ( the verb ) the allegation is enough to do irreparable damage. It need not ever be substantiated.

Of course its not just Antis. Nons too love the gossipy tabloids and stories about celebrities "allegedly" cheating on spouses or strung out on drugs.

I'm not sure why there are so many people who are violently allergic to ambiguity or doubt; even when they are the only thing warranted by the evidence at the time of evaluation.

It may be biological. Our minds do a lot of "filling in the gaps" just to seamlessly process our sensory information. There are no blind-spots in our processed vision, despite the undisputed fact that there is one in the source.

But if we understood why people need to deny ambiguity and doubt; we'd probably understand the origins of religion as a social phenomenon.
