The Antis are so thoroughly muddled in their thinking and terminology that its quite impossible to adopt their usage and make sense.

However, some of the terms they abuse are have perfectly good meanings, and it helps as far as is possible to adopt terminology still being defended by the experts.

Pedophilia is the romantic/sexual desire. Its not an act. Therefore any criminal act cannot be an expression of a feeling for another. Now the APA is divided between the majority who view it as a paraphilia and a progressive contingent who know an orientation when they see one.

Child abuse and molestation have nothing to do with any sexual orientation. And can take several forms. But they all involve violating an unwilling victim.

Statutory Rape is a charge where the law defines a rape to have occurred solely on the basis of age; where no other factor would make it a rape. The law confuses matters by sometimes leveling this charge in conjunction with actual rape and sometimes leveling it alone.

So I've got a couple of issues with your examples.

"1. Child rape is not the same as child molestation. Being of a certain sexuality does not make one more likely to be capable of rape."

For the first sentence, I'd have to say that Rape is a form of molestation. Certainly Lanning seems to think so.

The second sentence is true as well, but the contrast set by the first one seems to suggest that Pedophiles have a propensity for non-rape molestation such as inappropriate touching, unsolicited lewd comments &tc.

I would uncouple the sentences to uncouple the association between an orientation and whether it is more likely to molest.

"3. Statistics suggest that the vast majority of pedophiles are not child molesters (they do not approach children sexually). It should be assumed that the average pedophile is actually a normal, law-abiding citizen of sound judgement and good character."

Defining molestation as "approaching children sexually" seems a bit problematic as it doesn't address either harm or the child's will being violated. And given that we do experience some sexual gratification from looking upon beautiful children and don't always back away upon seeing one.........

Though maybe we'll be able to recognize the self-loathing. They will run screaming away from children like Mike in Monsters Inc, "That thing is a KILLING MACHINE!"
