I see those who say, "I am deaf and am not missing anything whatsoever!" as a marginal, radical few.

What sounds weird to ordinary ears is "I'm fine the way I am but I'm broken and wrong."

Picking slightly different words to correct nuances, then I'll accept: "I'm fine the way I am and accept myself totally, but I am also unusual in a way that makes a fulfilling life inherently more of a challenge, and I would wish a newborn baby boy not turn out to be unusual in the way I am".

I would say the same thing about myopia.

But if you wish to conclude, "We pedophiles are just as normal and whole and complete as deaf people and blind people", then I'll leave it to the readers to sort that out with regard to their own beliefs and assumptions.
