U.S. Congress favors confiscation

Posted by Baldur on Monday, July 28 2014 at 08:43:03AM

After the U.S. Supreme Court ruled a law that held defendants found guilty of exercising their freedom of speech liable for damages they did not cause to be unconstitutional [United States v. Paroline], Congress swiftly acted to create a new law almost indistinguishable from the old one. Much like the Third Reich confiscating the property of Jews or the Turkish confiscation of property belonging to religious minorities around the time of the Armenian genocide, the U.S. Congress has set its sights on the property of those determined to have used unauthorized sympathetic magic. This will of course drive many of these defendants into a lifetime of debt with the purpose of their destruction as functioning members of society.

The ring-leaders behind S. 2301 and H.R. 4981 are:

Senators Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.)

Representatives Matt Cartwright (D-PA-17), Tom Cotton (R-AK-4), Suzan DelBene (D-WA-1), Randy Weber (R-TX-14), Judy Chu (D-CA-27), and Doc Hastings (R-WA-4)

If these crime-lords were to fall off the edge of the earth, I wouldn't miss them - but barring that, it would be nice if they found themselves out of office - and preferably homeless and on the streets.
