"Good or bad, it is unfortunate burden to have this sexual orientation in today's society, no question about it. I have suffered the consequences enough times to know."
I never said otherwise. But I see that you too qualify the conditions as "in today's society," and that you "suffer the consequences." Pedophilia isn't what we suffer from, pedophilophobia is. Pedophilophobia is the burden imposed upon us. But it isn't inherent. The failure to qualify it as such by our "friends" conforms to the notion that we're sick defectives; who, even if they can't be fixed, should be fixed. And the pity is just the flipside of the persecution. "Sickos who can't change" is not much of an improvement over "sickos who won't change." I think that trying to cultivate pity for the "burden" of desires we must "struggle with" is just another way of promoting the notion that we are monsters who will eventually act-out. And since we know better, why not start with who we really are? Dante |
