"And yes I am comparing us to the KKK, because we are quickly becoming more and more like them reputationally."
If you cannot distinguish between irrational hatred and rational hatred, then you deserve to be hated. Comparing yourself to hate-groups invites others to make the comparison. Its not one I'd chose to do. The path to reputation rehabilitation lies for us in getting others to see us as we are. For the KKK, it lies in getting others to see them for what they are not. They were rather successful in this during the '30s and well outside of their power-base. The Second Klan was the most successful and was ( for most of its members ) a patriotic fraternity with some anti-Catholic leanings. They were for Prohibition; and the dries were largely Protestant and anti-Catholic. So the Second Klan rode the coattails of one of the most momentous social issues at the time. The anti-Negro identities of the First and Third Klan were not promoted to most midwestern members; where their new power-base was. So when the KKK enjoyed their best reputation, they were the most removed from representing themselves truly. We need to remove a false myth. They need to create a false myth. I'm not sure why you need to identify with our enemies and even promote their persecution of us? We have love and truth on our side. If all you have to offer is hate and lies, then why side with us at all? Dante |
