"so I think I'll keep on being an atheist :D"
Me some too. Though I think that some of the ideas within Islamic theology tend to appeal more to spiritually curious Atheists than anything except Taoism. There's the notion of absolute Monotheism; which appeals to those seeking the equivalent of a "unified field theory." Unlike Xtianity, Islam doesn't require "3 are 1" monotheism. And unlike Judaism, it doesn't have an ethnic litmus test. There's also the historical embracing of science ( unfortunately cut down after the Middle-Ages. ) But there's still the Qur'anic notion that studying nature will lead towards Allah. There's the lack of anthropomorphizing the creator; which is a feature of the OT and of most Xtian Church iconography. ( No "dude with a white beard." ) Though Taoism too appeals; particularly in emphasizing "going with the flow," and in its refusal to speculate about the unknowable. If you were planning on "getting" religion; those seem to be the two most common choices for Atheists. :) Dante |
