I would only add that it is more frequent that I read about apparent consensual cases which get caught up in the same net (eg, the British teacher and student who upon getting caught tried to flee to France) than cases which look really coercive, or at least are alleged by the victim to truly be coercive. I would say, whether it is right or wrong, that the system has routinized the way it treats those cases well enough that they no longer make waves beyond, at most, the locality. The only exceptions would be people otherwise famous, which is why I mentioned Sandusky. But I think if he had he been a HS or lower level coach with no connections at all at a higher level, it would never have made national news. |
