Because it's sure not the Terra I have learned to live in.
Teachers are in a position of power, especially teachers of underaged students. They can threaten students with compliance and/or silence. We cant allow a few that give consent because teachers are in a position to force students to say that they consented. Again especially the underaged ones. A teacher has an unreasonable amount of power over an underaged student. They can mess up their grades, their school records, they can get the students expelled, tell lies to the parents. A teacher doesnt generally need proof, just accusations, to be listened to. No they aren't. No they can't. No they can't. No they aren't. No they don't. No they can't. No they aren't. At any point the underage student makes any allegation, no matter how small, no matter how unbelievable, no matter how impossible to prove, that the teacher did anything sexual with them or tried to; at that point the teacher's career is over for life, and a criminal investigation is opened that even if it doesn't lead to a conviction, will haunt the teacher for life and will prevent them from having anything to do with teaching again. That is a whole lot more power. See also: Jerry Sandusky |
