Well in one sense Attraction works: we do create the confirmation biases by which we think and observe the world, and they are different for everyone and do come from conscious thoughts. If the Jews did not choose the Holocaust at least they were responsible for thinking that Nazism would be a time of institutionalized anti-Semitism not unlike any other time before, instead of something different, worse than anything witnessed for the past 4 and a half centuries. Of course, it is nearly impossible to see a confirmation bias. That is why it's a problem, more than its existence itself.
