Its a false dichotomy. No matter how much of a genetic basis there is for alcoholism is, if you live in a universe where its physically impossible for alcohol to exist then you cannot become an alcoholic. Everything has some level of mixture of the two. I wouldn't doubt some genetic predisposition, but there may also be some environmental triggers.

(tl;dr of this paragraph: twins are not the same in ways that you clearly are born with such as eye color). Still. Twins and clones are not identical. Just look at the cat clone from A&M. The original and the clone look fairly different. Certainly both were born with their fur color (not to say hair color doesn't change). Other more subtle differences have been observed, such as differences in eye color. Although to claim that people are born that way, I would think you would need a little bit more than ~50% (according to at least one study) chance of the other mono-zygotic twin being gay if you know one is seeing as they both have roughly the same genes and environment. But trauma can change traits people are otherwise born with. Just because someone has their arm cut off when they are 3yo doesn't mean they weren't born with an arm. How easily could head trauma change what a child's sexual orientation would be in the first few years of life before they can express it? Certainly its more of a problem than you have with handedness. Which also has significant differences between twins.

And if we want anything more than reluctant toleration, we need to focus on how most of us are not going to cause harm. And that includes yourself (referring to LOD, whom seems to have some dislike of themselves).
