The Visions of Alice e-Zine team is ALWAYS looking for interesting content, differing viewpoints, unique perspectives, and an opportunity to give a GL the necessary support and venue to illustrate what Anti's and Non's may not know or completely misunderstand.
There is a process we use to review, discuss, and potentially update any works for inclusion to an upcoming e-Zine.
For non-fiction pieces it's rare one might be published without at least a few changes because of potential grammatical or linguistic tone and word usage, but the basic ideas and theme are allowed to remain as the author intended.
Stories are evaluated for grammar, spelling, ie. rather simple and mundane "English-teacher" sorts of things, and of course length. War and Peace might be great as a door-stop, but the e-Zine has a critical mass that needs to be strictly adhered to, so overall story length should be no more than around four standard print pages.
Poetry is a different matter entirely. Very little is modified in a work of poetry ... perhaps even obvious spelling differences, because the character of a piece might be better served illustrating a unique viewpoint. However, if it's just a blatant misspelling, then it will most likely be corrected.
In closing ... everyone is eagerly invited to submit a piece of literature, poetry, non-fiction article, or Op-Ed piece (Letter to the Editor) to the VoA e-Zine staff. The more forms of input we get, and the greater the breadth of perspectives, the more valuable the end-result will be for all GL's. We are, after all, attempting to convey a common message of genuine affection for LG's of all ages, races, sizes, and backgrounds without illegal intent. We may be randy gents once in a while, but we're not the monsters most Anti's and a fair number of Non's believe us to be.
