I'm less enthusiastic. I'm open to it being good and different enough to stand on its own. But I don't trust a big American studio in the middle of a Vampire craze to make a Vampire movie which deviates from most of the conventions and expectations of the genre.

But hey. I have both versions of The Ring in my collection. And they're both fine films with enough differences to make them hold up well.

Though I must say that Lina is more my type than Chloe. She's older now, but was younger while filming the original than Chloe is filming the remake.

From the Wikipedia site;

In April 2010, it was announced that Hammer Film Productions and Dark Horse Comics are producing a graphic novel based on the film. Marc Andreyko will write the comic. Original author John Ajvide Lindqvist said "Nobody has asked me about [doing a comic] and I think that the project stinks. I am looking into this matter and hope that they have no right to do this."

Hmmm. That was my thought. It seemed like something an American film studio would do. But the story is such a perfect package that following it before or after doesn't expand it so much as reduce it.
