Right, which is why neither children nor you are, say, allowed to work on a nuclear reactor. Your rights aren't without limitations either. Nor are mine or anyone else's. You can earn the right to work on nuclear reactor, but that's far different from having a system in which you are granted the right simply because you exist.
False analogy. A nuclear reactor isn't part of your body.
But it's a grave mistake to stretch that argument to all kids of all ages, intellectual and social capabilities.
And why is it not when it's racial or social minorities? Because, suprise!, everyone has different capabilities. Well, even the majority do, at that, so why stop at ni*s and cu*s?
I do NOT often hear you or others talk about kids being judged on individual merits; what I usually hear are statements of blanket liberation.
Everything is individual about blanket liberation!
If it isn't unconditional, then it is a bill of attainder only with a prize rather than a penalty.
But in my system you would have to earn you rights regardless of age, and you couldn't have them until you earned them. As I said, I don't believe rights are inherent; they are a gift of the enlightened system in which we live.
Except the right to be Protected, right?
That one IS inherent.
Only all the others aren't.
