You're right, it was a bad example. I tend not to consider the naturalistic fallacy in making decisions. But in this case I did, and I invited it in turn. I should never have mentioned the animal kingdom in this context. I won't make the mistake again. We are far different from every other animal in most regards, and we have the ability to mimic what is useful to us and eschew the rest. Are we always right? Of course not. But that doesn't mean we should drop everything that separates us from the animals.
No, only the things that negatively impact us as a society rather than actually doing us any good. Enforced dependence is not one of those things that do us any good.

Look, I'm not saying our movement is hopelessly doomed. I just think timing is everything, and we're a long way away from being considered a minority worth protecting, much less earning rights for kids.
Which is why the fight must continue so we can eventually reach the point where we are considered a legitimate minority worthy of being recognized as such.
