The argument is valid because part of your argument is about image. Drop the image issue and it does become a strawman. But when you are talking about being deemed or not a threat - that's image.

None of my argument was about image in the sense that Dante meant it. It was about self-preservation, not blending in so we could pretend we're just like them.
