Clarification on one point

I want to clarify one point, because I think there's a danger that some here will misconstrue it. I said:

"This is not about selling out, unless you consider having some modicum of privacy and safety to be selling out. Were the Jews who worked with the Nazis in the concentration camps to preserve their own lives sell-outs? I think there's a point where all bets are off and you do what you have to do to survive and maybe have some degree of a quality life."

This does mean that I think we have no obligation to our fellow CLers. I certainly think we do. I'm not going to go out and rat out my friends at GC to the enemy, and I would be greatly disappointed in and angry at anyone who did that to me. I'm not going to lie--under torture I would confess these things, though I doubt there's anyone here who wouldn't. But barring that, I think we owe it to each other to keep secret whatever we learn here . . . with one exception. If any of us had absolute knowledge that one amongst our ranks was severely hurting/abusing a child, I think we have an obligation to report that person. But even then I would have to be convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that this was happening. My main point was that there are limits to our solidarity, especially given the mine field we are being forced to navigate these days.
