Many nations had no problem with teens marrying and having babies at the time.
So, I am not allowed to point this out to latter day imitators of the Nazis?
How the Nazis engineered a pedophile-priest scare in the 1930s
Sexual affairs (abusive and not) have always existed in the Catholic Church. Luther and Calvin spent time writing about them too. The Nazis didn't discover anything; they just used it when they wanted to reduce the influence of the Catholic Church (particularly, because of its opposition to forced sterilization and "euthanasia"). The 1990s and 2000s discoveries are also no such: simply it became convenient again to attack the Church for them, after it hadn't been for a time.
The Church has always been a very vertical and internally authoritarian institution. That will always give a good ground for secret, otherwise forbidden and sometimes abusive sexual affairs. Unless that changes (fat chance!) that will always happen.
