In truth, he didn't seek out to screw people over. He simply sought out to be more recognized himself - and that took lying in an investment context, and eventually those lies ended up screwing people over. But if through a magical spell all his investments had turned profitable at the very last minute, everybody would have still been happy - and especially Bernie himself!

The guy was operating a huge Ponzi scheme. I don't think he can claim ignorance as a defense, and you making that argument on his behalf is just retarded.
